No boost!! Help please
« on: July 25, 2017, 01:43:42 pm »
Hi guys,

So I changed my coolant pipes and my turbo pipes over to silicone on Sunday.
Started the car up after and noticed the car wasnt boosting.

Ah *ding* numpty forgot to put the MAP clip back on.
So I plugged it in and wooosh, car was back to its old self.

Monday was fine also, no issues with boosting.

Today however, no boost at all... i hear it spool up, my induction kit sucks in air but nothing.

Ran a VCDS and have the following code:

000566 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor (G31)
P0235 - 004 - implausible signal

Any ideas, ive read it could be the map sensor but it was okay yesterday?

It'll have logged that code when you ran it without the MAP sensor plugged in.

Double check the connection again - then clear the fault code(s).

Drive it, check for codes.

You might have damaged the wiring/connection. If the same code comes back after you've physically checked, then cleared the codes and run the car, that'd seem like the answer.

Ive found coolant in the connection. Gunna blast it out with compressed air. Gotta let the car cool down first as I just got back from work

So, just cleared out the coolant from the sensor but I still get the error code below.
Might be a faulty sensor as I have physically checked the cables on the loom and they look fine, and they haven't been touched.

2 Faults Found:

000567 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor (G31)
               P0237 - 002 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

000566 - Manifold Pressure / Boost Sensor (G31)
               P0236 - 004 - Implausible

You did clear the codes before you scanned it again didn't you?

Guess the first thing is try a new sensor then. Can't think off the top of my head if anything else can give those codes.

Although if it's falling short of requested boost it could be the turbo itself.

Yeah, just got a bosch sensor online. Gunna try that.

I cant imagine its the cables as it worked fine yesterday.

Maybe the coolant sat in the socket of the sensor has shorted the sensor maybe? Only thing I can think of

I'd put a fiver on it being the sensor. Let us know how you get on!
