Bootlid swap nightmare!
« on: December 29, 2017, 12:21:57 pm »
Hi folks, after a bit of help.

just swapped my gti bootlid with one from a breakers yard as mine was rusty and had a dent.
Firstly i just disconncted everything and connected the wiring from the new bootlid and the boot wouldnt open, and the alarm would lock but not unlock.
i then noticed that my original had  different wiring with a blaupunkt box and two ariels on the windscreen.(new one had one aerial and no blaupunkt box)
I have now transfrerd everything over and still the same. Only way to unlock the car is with the key in drivers door and press the boot pop about 5 times for the boot to open.
Any ideas folks??

Try either changing the boot latch catch (they have a position switch inside) or look at the wiring in the banjos, as the replacement lid may have a few snapped wires in tha area.
