Key Advice
« on: December 29, 2017, 09:28:40 pm »

My key was beginning to look a bit worn and the key ring attachment bar had broken off so I ordered a replacement case on eBay. Swapped over the internal parts and tried it on the car. Remote locking still works but the immobiser is now active. Any idea why this is happening. I have a spare so it’s not the end of the world just hoping I am now not faced with having to get the new one coded

Did you also transfer the ID48 Transponder chip over from the old key? It's like a small glass tube hidden in the key blade part of the key.

Thanks for the reply. I have had another look and can’t find what you are talking about. The only glass bit I can see is the for the red light in the button section of the key

I have transferred all the internals back into the original casing and still no luck. Something must have decoded when I removed the battery?

Found the transponder chip! Fiddly little rascal must have fallen out when I opened the key and I never even noticed it. Turned a 20 minute job into an evening of head scratching Thanks for the tip, would never have got it sorted otherwise
