Revo Stage 2 Gone Back To Stock
« on: August 02, 2017, 01:47:01 pm »
Just a quick one people, my stage 2 revo map had stopped working! I've had it checked and the settings are on the ECU so I've had to look elsewhere to find what's up, now I've found a fault on the diagnostic machine with the Fuel Pressure Sensor! And the Camshaft sensor I believe it is, Has anyone else had this or had this sort of problem before? As my local vagtech dealer said it's more than likely the fuel pressure sensor which has reverted the map back to stock!

Have you had the battery disconnected lately?

Revo maps go back to their basic settings if the battery has been disconnected. It can be put back to the required setting with a Revo SPS or by going back to the Revo dealer if this is the case

No mate battery hasn't been out, revo think it may be the fuel pressure sensor which I'm changing tomorrow morning! Fingers crossed it's that

Yeah if the ECU doesn't know the fuel pressure, you'll be severely torque limited.  If it's the HPFP sensor that's cracked in half (common problem), you'll be budgeting for a new pump if it's OEM.  Approx £170ish on ebay or £250ish at VW.

Update time, replaced the fuel pressure sensor, took the car out and it went back to its normal brutal self! Then 10 mins later it went back again to stock! Took it back to the garage where My mate has the diagnostic machine and it came up again with the fuel pressure sensor! So he again cleared the codes from the ECU and again it rips like a stage 2 should! So.... spoke to Vagtech and they seem to think it could be a possible wiring issue which they are going to look into on Tuesday for me! But not only that they said as the previous owner has put an updated fuel pump on it and not gone and got stage 2+ done it could of been running too rich for the amount of time it's and the new uprated fuel pump too! hopefully Tuesday this will be all figured out and fixed lol

It won't run rich on a Stage 2 map because of an uprated pump. The pump will only supply as much fuel as the ECU requests. If anything, having an uprated pump with a Stage 2 map is more reliable than with a standard pump, ie you won't get fuel cuts like you sometimes can with Stage 2 and a standard pump.

Good luck getting it sorted anyway bud - it's probably a sensor causing the issues.

Cheers mate! Hopefully it'll be some sort of wiring issue and it'll be fixed Thursday

Update... Vagtech have plugged it in and it's came up with the System too lean off idle P2177 upper limit reached code! So first port of call I've ben told to change the PCV valve so that's getting done now! Hopefully that'll be it and my Stage 2 will stay Stage 2 lol

Just an update on this situation.. so after spending quite a bit of money upgrading the fuel system and other numerous parts trying to sort out this problem it was finally sorted and it was the god dam bloody fuel rail pressure sensor which I changed BUT VW/TPS decides to give me the bloody ko3 turbo 139bar one not the Ko4 200bar one! No problems since and it’s running fine now

Well, I am back in Blighty for good now (arrived in August this year) and my Edition 30 had the same issue back in 2009.  I never resolved it and its been in storage ever since - I will be taking it out next summer and getting it sorted.  I could never sell that Edition 30, bought new in 2007 and only driven for 2 years.  It is still like new.

Can't wait till the summer!   :driver:

Hi illyun!

Good to know you are well and alive and kicking!

My red chariot Mk5 is still going strong (on Revo Stage 2) and had a deep maintenance done by JKM last July just to keep her well maintained and running. Coming up to 127,000 miles of fun!

I'm not often here but just occasionally when someone tags me.

Hi Robin!  Great to hear from you...  Are JKM as good as ever?  I will probably be taking the car to them to get a LOT done:

1. Full Service including things like spark plugs etc
2. DSG Gear Oil change
3. Lean fuel issue sorted - I believe that after 8 years - wow has it really been that long?! - we have a limited number of potential solutions from what I have read.
4. Will probably have to replace the brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 2's that I had fitted in 2009 and never used  :fighting:
5. Engine Cam chain and tensioner.

etc... its going to cost a bomb I'm sure.  It has been stored in a heated garage with battery conditioner fitted since then at £100 a month, so thats around £8000+ spent on storage since 2010    :rolleye:
