Fog light not working
« on: August 05, 2017, 03:17:48 pm »
Hi all,

Bit of a problem with the ED30 - front left fog light isn't working. Have changed the bulb recently after the last one failed (only used it about once!). New one has died again recently.

Quite some time ago I converted my car to the earlier MK5 projector style fogs using a harness. I checked this today and there was some water in the plugs. Cleaned and dried them - lots of WD40 used. Still no joy. Swapped left bulb for right - didn't work, so not the bulb.
Suspecting the harness - I tried the original HB4 bulbs on the l/h wiring without the harness and it didn't work. Very annoyed!

I don't want to code out the fault using Vagcom . Any thoughts guys? Only thing I can now think of trying is scraping the terminals in case there is a bit of corrosion causing a less than good contact.

I really hope this hasn't caused corrosion to get into the wiring loom and screw it up entirely! Any help would be much appreciated!
