RNS 510 Issue
« on: September 08, 2017, 01:08:30 pm »
Hi all, I put this into the tutorial thread, but might have been lost in there, so apologies for starting a new one, but hoping someone can help me out here:

I tried to update my RNS 510 recently from FW 4120 (which I think was actually incorrect for my unit) to 5269.
I am getting issues when updating and getting the following screen:

However when this happens the only thing that will get it out of the cycle is the recovery FW recommended in the 1st post on the tutorial thread.

But no disc will work now, even the 4120 one that I used back a few years ago last time it was updated.

My details are:
My part number is 1T0035680D and currently have FW 4120 on it.
I saw on here that my part number equates to HW Vehicle 0xC801, 0xCA01 or 0xCC01
But my problem is on my system info I have a HW vehicle of 0xC201.

Might that be causing any problems?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Don't know what to do next!!

Thanks very much,
N

Don't know all the version numbers

I do know that several models of RNS 510 exist, updated with newer technology
You can't put later revisions of firmware on older radio models.  not compatible
VW Golf 2.0 Gtd 140 4motion (2005)
Factory fitted: xenons, sunroof, heated leather seats, fold in mirrors with downlights,
Custom: Mk6 steering wheel, updated gateway, RNS510 remote boot pop, LED lighting.

Thanks for that.

Yea I found somewhere that 5269 is actually good for my unit.
However 4120 (which I had put on it a good few years ago) was actually incorrect for the unit.

But I was having issues so tried to update FW but it wouldn't take any FW I tried (kept giving the screen above!)
