Think I will be doing this soon as the results look very good. Couple of questions, do you need to rub the plastic down at all to give it a key to stick? Also what plastidip did people go for, any links would be good?
I would be wanting to remove all grills to spray them, I have removed the upper grill when changing my bonnet mechanism, how are the lower middle and fog grills removed? I take it you just masked off the red grill trim @lukemk5gti ?
You don't need to sand it down to give it a surface to stick onto.
The trick is to spray 2 very light and fine layers first with 30mins drying time. It leaves the surface kind of sandy looking and then all future layers will stick to that.
You do need to ensure it is completely free of any foreign matter though. I spent maybe 30 mins with a microfibre and IPA cleaning each individual comb.
I went for the SMOKE one, it's name is actually smoke. eBay does it for maybe £12
I masked them off and used a brand new blade to cut the line perfectly flush. You could also use this as an opportunity to remove the red strip and spray that but don't forget to lacquer if you do.
