breaking a car - How do you do it?
« on: August 17, 2017, 01:09:50 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm looking to potentially break my car in the coming weeks.

How do you guys go about selling the engine / gearbox? I've only got a driveway to do it, so was wondering how I would go about it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Faz

Hire/buy an engine crane to get it out, and it's probably easiest to remove the front end. Put it on an old tyre (get one from a tyre shop). Then you can acquire a pallet and ratchet strap it to it if you're going to deliver, or let whoever buys it sort out carrying it.

Rip the front end off and use a jack and wooden board if you have no crane and just drag the engine out, drive shafts off  :happy2:

I broke my vxr a few years back
I took off everything apart from the engine and left it as a rolling shell as I had no way to get the engine out and was easier for me to get rid of the shell and engine together
All parts are cheap to send using parel2go.com and I'm sure as soon as you list them on here they will sell fast

A garage will help to store some of the bits you have taken off. As once you remove a door or 2, the elements will get in as well as maybe animals.
