VW T5 Camper Van + Air
« on: June 23, 2017, 06:59:20 pm »
Hi all. Welcome to my main project vehicle, my VW T5 camper.

I won't go into the full in-depth build so far but I bought it at the end of 2014 as an ex-demo vehicle from Alpine Campers, a conversion company in Bingley. Ticked all the boxes (at the time) - top spec parts, loved the look (at the time!) and was on a decent low mileage base van. Anyway, this is what it did look like:

Wasn't really happy with the wheels (22" Overfinch copies) and the longer we owned it we realised it needed a bit of paint which was escalated when someone drove into the back of it and then drove off.

So when the tyres on the 22s had shredded themselves, we went banded steels and I took off that daft ABT splitter which even on the big wheels and crap drop was catching on stuff:

Then came a Sportline splitter:

Then things escalated:

Unfortunately HP Drivetech struts don't actually go low on the T5 so they've had the brake mounts removed and the hub mod has been done (so the entire strut gets pushed through the hub carrier further). Need to push it through some more as I've got about an inch and a bit before I hit the CV boot = thats an inch further drop on the front to be achieved!

No interior pics - I must get some. But its a fully kitted out camper that sleeps 4 of us with fridge, hob, sink etc etc

Got some work to do on the Golf to get it up to this standard
