The other place recommended on here for DSG repairs is a place in Bristol, not exactly on the doorstep but that and the Nottingham one have had high praise.
Think I've saved the link so will have a look.

Here you go.

Cheers mate. Definitely closer than Slaters but good to have a reputable company to go for. Must looking them up, still haven’t got this repaired.

Hi,I'd be interested in how you get on with this.I bought a 08 Mk5 GTI DSG in April that displays the same symptoms. To be honest it's driveable and 90% of the time doesn't bother me but when it's hot in traffic or reversing it's really jerky.I have owned more than a dozen DSG Golfs and this is the first that's faulty.I suppose my luck had to run out sooner or later.I'm reluctant to spend much on it as the car was only 7k. I think a secondhand box from a breakers would be my best option.

Mine is the same in three years it's not got any worse. Bit risky buying a secondhand box could end up with the same  problem as it's fairly  common on mk5's.

I will use the place in Bristol they have had very good feedback.

Ain't there companies that could repair this instead.
Would this not be cheaper.

Before jumping and spending xxx money on a mech pack or such try a dsg reset, mine had simular problems with the addition to 3rd, did a TB and DSG reset and i think due to the fault of my own it was worse (usb power savings on a laptop) but after about a week it got better, last week i replaced my TB and thought for the hell of it id do another dsg reset and it was perfect after the run in setup, if you have vagcom or know someone that does give it a go, all of my symptoms were pointing to mech but as stated, a reset and recalabration drive and it drives like its never had a problem

Had a reset done twice but didn’t work for me unfortunately!

My rear seized caliper kept on bringing on the tpms on but front may differ!!! If you are sure it's not the gearbox mount like mine was when I had this issue nearly three years ago then it may sadly be the mech unit!.

Is there an easy way to diagnose this?

If you have an assistant put your car in drive with handbrake on and rock the car forward in gear whilst you look at the passenger side wheel for abnormal movement!. Anther way is to grip ahold of the engine gearbox side and try move it back and forth and if this moves reasonably easy replace gearbox mount. I did have a video on my build thread but due to photobucket being greedy they've blocked all pictures and videos.

@Tuffy90 - Did you solve it? I have the same issues, with no errors logged, I’ve been told to change the clutch pack.

I'll try replacing the clutch pack first, since my gearbox wasn't new and I don't know how was it used.
