Hi all,
I'm in need of replacement driveshafts for front (left and right). Vehicle is mk5 gti with dsg. Can anyone advise if the ones off eBay are okay? Or anywhere I can get oem replacement?
Cheers, Tom

No used ones on ebay? I would only use genuine for a beefy part like that, but they won't be cheap from VW. Sure you need the entire shaft and not just an inner or outer CV? Don't normally need to replace the entire shaft unless the CV splines are chewed up, or they're bent.

Both my inner and outer cv boots were split and my local garage was going to charge my £100 just to change them so £45 for the complete shaft with new boots is a bargain and saves so much messing about

£100 isn't so bad. I did them myself with genuine CV boot kits and it's a straight forward job, but time consuming. £30 I think for each side just in parts, so that was a cheap quote. Labour is about an hour each side if you know the car well.
Driveshafts themselves rarely go. Usually outer CVs first, rumbling/knocking on corners, then inner CVs, which click/crunch when pulling away from standstill. All 4 of mine are still solid at 114K, so not sure what you chaps are doing to them

Thanks all! Basically have a lot of knocking when turning (car has done 92k).
Haven't got the time to do the work so garage advised to get the drive shafts as makes the job cheaper (as easier repair). Otherwise would have have just got CV kit.
I'm going to give those eBay ones a go!
Thanks again, Tom
