RNS-510, Bluetooth and DAB!
« on: September 20, 2017, 08:44:09 pm »
Hi all,

A previous owner had the Nokia CK-7W bluetooth system fitted to my 57 plate Edition 30 with RNS-510 and highline dash.

There is just one button I can push to pair the CK-7W to my RNS-510.  All it lets me do is use the car speakers for audio (no on screen /on-dash telephone numbers).

I would like to swap this Nokia kit out for an OEM(?) 7p6 bluetooth kit so I can gain access to numbers and hopefully stream music / display tracks?

Firstly, can anyone advise as to how to remove the Nokia kit?  I've removed the RNS-510 but cannot see a "control unit"(?) for the Nokia kit.  Has anyone else removed one of these kits?

Secondly, the RNS-510 I have is a version C but running updated firmware.  Looking forward, would it be worth upgrading the RNS-510 to a later version with SSD ?  Is the OS more responsive?

Thirdly, I would like to add DAB to my RNS-510.  Is this fairly easy to do?  I have the Nav GPS presumably in the shark fin on the roof?

Could anyone offer any advice please?

Thanks in advance and apologies for all the questions!  :happy2:

Hi ref the nokia kit its a case of hunting around as it down to the tech who fitted it as to where the stuff is located, if your intending to replace your old rns510 id pay the extra & go for a factory rns510dab like i have fitted in my mk5 they normally cost approx £550 ish.
