Engine noise....
« on: September 14, 2017, 08:44:36 pm »
Any ideas what this could be?
Parked up after a 20 miles drive, 3 hrs later and there was a squeaky type noise from the left side looking from the front when I started the engine.
I didn't think about filming it then....it didn't sound good but no lights on the dash and I was 200 miles from home.

I am no mechanic....

Thanks in advance  :happy2:

Simply take the auxilary belt off and that will greatly assist in identifying the noise.

Cheers, I'll need to get it looked at by a garage.

I heard a Reno Clio 2.0 sport 53 reg do this and it was the cam roller that snapped and rattling about to break off as it snapped the cam cover.

Check them! Let's hope it's not that.
Also fan belt tensioner sounds like that when worn!.
Have you been to the garage yet?.
Did you say you were local?

I hope not too....
I'm waiting to hear if there's a garage (Kent) that's used to working on these engines so I can get a qualified opinion.
I might take it to a general garage tomorrow to see if they can identify the sound but I'm a bit uneasy using the car at the moment, just in case.....

Ah that's annoying.. have you tried kwik fit halfrauds just to get the noise identified?. My local kwik fit was really helpful a few weeks back finding a damaged anti roll bar bracket but sadly couldn't do any work on it and I really had to replace the bracket to fix the problem in the end!.

UPDATE

Mate did a VCDS scan yesterday just for some piece of mind no codes came up.  :happy2:

Took wheel and cover off, that is the extent of my knowledge done now
Any more clues from the clips? Seems to be from that bottom pulley area.

Thanks
