Mk5 GTI rattle and boost issues
« on: September 23, 2017, 03:48:07 pm »
Hi all!

Had my tfsi gti since March, hasn't been the smoothest ownership but I'm sticking with it!

So my lemon has recently developed a rattle at idle if I rev to about 2500 and let off the throttle, sounds similar to the actuator issues on tsi engines. Is this a well documented issue on TFSI engine also? The car also doesn't produce boost at start up, sounds like all the boost is being vented until about 1 minute of driving. I'm leaning towards maybe a bad DV as I haven't changed this yet. The car has a brand new PCV.

Any thoughts guys?

Stephen

The rattle you mention sounds like a similar fault I had when I bought mine.

It turned out the actuator arm needed adjusting as it had become loose.

The way to do it is on this thread:

Easy to do once under the car, a few turns of the adjuster and re tightening the nut, job done!
