This car will need an oil change near the end of the month, but this time I decided to replace the connecting rod bearings, the gearbox oil, the brakes oil and the lower engine mount bushes. The connecting rod bearings early wear is a known issue with BLS and BXE engines and this BLS has reached 180.000 km/112.500 miles, so it's better to be safe than sorry. Decided to go for stronger OEM lower engine mount bushes so got the ones for BMN engines and the dogbone small bush from Powerflex. Since the front subframe has to be removed to replace the bushes I preferred to replace all the bolts too, as advised.

The part list that I got for this maintenance is the following:
-Oil filter (071115562C)
-Air filter (1K0129620D)
-Motul X-clean 5w40 5L engine oil
-Connecting rod bearings (045105701BGLB) x4 and (045105701CGLB) x4
-Connecting rod bolts (45105425) x8
-Gearbox oil (G052512A2) x3L
-ATE SL.6 DOT4 2L brake oil
-Lower engine mount bushes (3C0199868E and 3C0199867E)
-Dogbone small bush from Powerflex (PFF85-505)
-Bolts M12x75 (N10528602) x2
-Bolts M10x75 N10579702) x4
-Bolts M10x75 (N91167101)
-Bolt M10x35 (N91066101)
-Bush bolt M14x1.5x70 (N10558002)
-Bolts M10x76 (N10579702) x4
-Bolts M12x100 (N10640301) x2

I'll try to share pictures of the maintenance being done later.

The car was delivered yesterday night to my mechanic. I won't be following the work done so no pictures. So far he saw that the left track rod end needs replacing too.

I have the car back since last Monday night. Drove the 200 miles return trip at a calm speed to bed well the new con rod bearings. The engine now sounds smoother than before.

Before I left he showed me the old bearings and they had identical wear and were still in good shape. My mechanic did notice that the con rod bolts were a bit stretched compared to new ones.

He didn't have time to replace the left track rod end before I went to get the car. He also noticed that the front sway bar bracket bolts were a bit stretched and that I didn't take new ones for him to replace. I had to look up online the part numbers since ETKA isn't very explicit to indicate which are they (they're not represented in the side picture). I ordered them later after I found a topic about them.

Yesterday I took the car to a local friend who replaced both track rod ends (the left one was really busted and the right one had a small tear that wasn't obvious to see) and replaced the front sway bar bracket bolts.

The list of parts replaced in this maintenance is a bit bigger now:
-Diesel filter (116 mm) (1K0127434B)
-Oil filter (071115562C)
-Air filter (1K0129620D)
-Charcoal lined cabin air filter (1K1819653B)
-Motul X-clean 5w40 engine oil x5L
-Connecting rod bearings (045105701BGLB) x4 and (045105701CGLB) x4
-Connecting rod bolts (45105425) x8
-Gearbox oil (G052512A2) x3L
-ATE SL.6 DOT4 brake oil x2L
-Lower engine mount bushes (3C0199868E and 3C0199867E)
-Dogbone small bush from Powerflex (PFF85-505)
-Bolts M12x75 (N10528602) x2
-Bolts M10x75 (N91167101)
-Bolt M10x35 (N91066101)
-Bush bolt M14x1.5x70 (N10558002)
-Bolts M10x76 (N10579702) x4
-Bolts M12x100 (N10640301) x2
-Bolts M8x75 (N91073401) x4
-Track rod ends (1K0423811J) and (1K0423812J)

Now I just have to take this car to get a new wheel alignment and rotate the tyres between axles to finish the job.

Was forgetting to mention that a friend sourced me a cheap used BT module compatible with iPhones, a 7P6035730F. He also made me the loom to connect to the radio and fitted all in place. I already had a microphone fitted and a foam holder from the Ed. 30 factory fitted BT module, so it was a really cheap mod to do as a surprise to my wife who was initially against it. Now that she can use the radio, cluster and steering wheel to control the phone instead of just a BT headset, she sees that it was worth it.

Activated the BT emulation in the PolarFIS Adv. as @rich83 explained. Everything works as it should. The PolarBT module is just needed when we don't have a PolarFIS Adv.. Thanks for the tip. :happy2:

The BT module was from a SEAT so it showed in the phone as SEAT BT. Decided to change its name to GTD BT and later changed the Ed. 30 BT module name too (it showed as VW PHONE).

Hunter 4 wheels alignment, wheels balancing and wheel rotated between axles done today. I think it's ready for another ~10k miles.

Replaced the left side mirror indicator. Noticed that it stopped working last weekend. Part number: 1K0949101.

Hi Shoduchi,

I was wondering if you have any photos of your mk6 front and rear parking sensors?

Hi Shoduchi,

Hi!
You can see the pictures if you open them in the Photobucket site. Just right click over the pictures and select open in a new tab. I have no detailed pictures of the parking sensors. The ones in the black GTI centre grill must be placed as high as possible so they won't be pointing at the floor and beeping because of it.

The rears are located where the mk5 rear sensors are. The round frame from the mk5 sensor support had to be cut off, so it covered the bigger hole that mk5 rear bumpers have. That's why I opted to get a rear bumper without holes and had the holes made for the size of the mk6 sensors in my Ed. 30.

My wife's car and my first car has finally passed the 200.000 km (124.274 miles). Still going strong and feels fresh to drive. Done the oil exchange and replaced all the filters 2 weeks ago.

It happened last night with thick fog so I wasn't looking at the cluster when the milage reached 200.000 km. Just today I remembered to check how it was.

Thanks buddy!  :drinking: I try to keep it in good shape. It's the first car I bought with my money.
