My new purchase. Graphite Blue Mk5 Gti
« on: October 04, 2017, 02:05:22 pm »
Hi All,

I am new to this forum and thought I would share some bits about my new GTI. I have had a mk5 in the past but this is my 1st GTI and I think it's a good one! It's 2008 in Graphite blue, DSG, leather and sunroof. I have been looking for a while and I jumped on this one when it came up for sale. Bought it from a retired airline pilot who has owned it from new. Having covered a mere 27,000 miles with a full VW service history from the original supplying dealer it was too good to walk away from. I have it about 2 months now and it was 100% standard when I got it. Since buying I have carried out the following work:

-Full service including DSG, water pump and timing belt
-I upgraded from the original 17inch rims to 18inch freshly refurbed Monza Detroit (trying to keep it original as possible)
-Stage 1 ECU remap. Went with the Bluefin and it has been running sweet so far
-High flow air intake
-Milltek cat-back system with polished tips. Non-resonated
-50% colour coding on rear valance
-Stumpy bee-sting aerial
-German style number plates

I have bought a black VW emblem for the front grille but haven't had time to fit it yet.
Also got a red GTI badge for the front but the fit was a bit shoddy so I went back to the original.

That's it for the moment. Have a few more bits in mind and will add updates as the project progresses.

I am off now to explore the forum to see if i get any ideas

Far as I know the leather is called Latte. It’s a coffee beige colour. Dash is beige/anthracite and carpets are black

So I have ordered a few more bits....
DV+ Diverter valve,
Eibach Pro springs and Eibach wheel spacers, Didn’t want to go overboard with this so went for 20mm drop all round with 10/12mm spacers.
Rear wiper deleting kit and a few other bits. Will post more pics once all have been installed

Some new bits arrived today. 20mm Eibach springs and DV+ from CLP Automotive. 10mm Eibach spacers and new wheel bolts from PerformanceAlloys.com. Waiting on my rear wiper delete kit to arrive and hopefully get everything bolted on in the next week or so.

Still on the standard shocks and I have to say the ride is very acceptable. Went for the Eibach Pro and it is not much different to standard springs
