2005 MK5 GTI warm start problems
« on: September 29, 2017, 03:40:06 pm »
My 2005 Golf GTi is struggling to re-start once the engine is up to temperature and sometimes it will not start.  It will turnover and attempt to idle, misfire and just stall.

It might start after 1, 2 or 3 cranks with me giving it some gas, over the past few weeks it seems to be getting worse.

The car always starts first time from cold or if the engine has had sufficient time to cool down.

I'm just wondering if anyone has come across and fixed a similar issue.

Thanks

Do you hear the low pressure fuel pump turn on when you open the door?

I had this exact same problem with my previous 1.9 TDI. I had to replace the starter motor.

In the back of my mind I am thinking cam position sensor. I'm sure I read something about it taking a reading from it when warm or something.
The thing to do will be to do some live logging in vcds to see what is happening and go from there.
