MDI + 7p6 Loom
« on: July 03, 2017, 12:44:51 am »
hi

hope someone can answer this question.

is there a different loom people use for installing an MDI kit and 7p6 bluetooth module? my sound quality on the MDI has dropped since installing the 7p6 module and wasn't sure if a completely different loom is required.

any help is much appreciated

Anyone?

Or can anyone advise if they have MDI and 7p6 Bluetooth fitted and had any issues?

What stereo is it going into.

Most vw stereos have different inputs for Bluetooth and MDI, I take it when you've added BT you've piggybacked another loom in via quad lock to quad lock?

Was the MDI already in the car when you got it?
Loads of extra's and retro fits.

@SI-R32 its going into an RNS510 if that helps.

i didnt have any of this installed from scratch - i fitted the unit and mdi myself using an MDI loom then had the bluetooth retrofitted with a 7p6 loom so both looms connected in if that makes sense?

Check MDI wires for the speakers if they are not broken. Also, it should be shielded wires for sound signal. And if you use 2 inline looms, i would cut one and solder to each other. Positive, ground, can high, can low. I had similar issue when added aux leads to MDI loom, thin wires got scratched/damaged during the fitting and making the noisy sound.
I have bluetooth, mdi, aux fitted, just no inline looms, everything soldered to the main quad lock.

@Pashka thanks for that - but that would be way beyond my capabilities I wouldn’t know where to start!

Just my two cents after fitting mine on the weekend.

Sound quality wasn't working just right.

I had to get a hammer and hit the connections into place on my unit to get them fully on and it suddenly picked up in quality.

Although I was using the old MFD2 connections so that could have been the problem
