Having bought my first Golf Gti at 18yo in 1989 an 83 Y plate mk1 1.8... I thought i would treat myself to the Mk5 Gti and boy is it the best car i have ever driven... I have owned a string of 911's and the like ... wow love the mk5, I'm looking for some nice OE looking but a little bigger exhaust tips as mine look bad (may be like the mk1 audi TT)... where could i buy a pair ? looked on ebay but they all seem to be in China ??

A local exhaust builder would likely have what you want, but if you're going down that you might as well invest in an exhaust as the tips are strangely expensive, friend got charged £120 just to change his tips. Since you're wanting bigger tips I don't think you could get an exhaust cover that will look 'right'.

I know BCS offer an OEM look rolled edge tip.

I think people have used Audi A4 tips, do a search on here and something should come up.

I got mine from eBay. Look a lot better then standard once on and provide a surprisingly good fit.

No they go over the existing ones I believe - just need a rubber mallet to get the a4 ones on

No as mentioned they just slide over the existing ones with a good hit with a rubber mallet

Thanks for this I think I'll go form these clip ons to my existing carbon filled black rear exhaust tailpipes. Just one questiin. Do this adaptor pipes fit onto all MK5 GTI tailpipe. It will save me the time effort cleaning my existing tailpipes  :happy2:

So if they go over the top won’t my current ones be visible from inside,as there all black and horrible

Its dark inside them anyway so shouldn't really matter. Its the outside that will matter most I think. :happy2:

I got mine today and fitted as directed banged them on with a rubber mallet. Didn't fit them flush to my existing exhaust but there are bracket clips inside these new tips that you have to be mindful of although my new tips went in a bit further and clips were pushed down. I'm not sure if I did the right thing otherwise the tips they will stick out too much!  :sad1:

Those ones pictured for £13.45 were too loose on mine once hammered on. They’d vibrate off in no time so I binned them. Might try some genuine audi ones.
