Replace std steering wheel with MF/DSG paddle wheel

I'm thinking of replacing my horrid plastic steering wheel (no MF or paddles) with a leather rimmed one possibly with MF buttons and DSG paddles. Car is an '06 TDI DSG (no paddles) with cruise but only midline.
Anyone know what I will need to get an MFSW & paddles working? If it can be done, is there anyone in the North (Lancs/ Yorks) that can do it for readies of course.
Also I've purchased an RCD510 and I have the new CANBUS gateway (version AA). The guy I've bought it from in Leeds says he will fit the unit & code the CANBUS but he needs to know where the gateway is located, does anyone know?

My canbus was under the ashtray in the centre console. They can also be behind the pedals in the drivers footwell I believe.
