Another “what’s it worth” thread
« on: November 01, 2017, 08:23:01 pm »
Evening all... Possibly getting my hands on a mk5 r32. Just wondering what it’s roughly worth? A friend of a friend has it and he’s apparently moving abroad and is gonna let it go cheap, don’t no how cheap yet but would like some opinions on its value as I’d only be buying it to sell on.

2008 VW Golf R32 mk5
6 speed Manual
5dr
Blue
Roughly 100k miles
Oem satnav
Leather
Xenons
Decat
Forge intake

Apparently drives spot on and doesn’t actually need anything doing to it.

Not much in the way of service history other than what the current owner has done.

Recorded cat D repaired. Repaired to a high standard, I can’t see myself where it has been damaged previously

Around £6K imo.

If it had a clean title, factory exhaust, factory intake and fewer miles, it would be around the 8-9 mark.

Less than what pudding thinks IMO

No service history and CAT D. You would do well to hide that when selling it on.

2 years ago in Ireland you could have gotten one for €4K

Now the excellent examples fetch €8K

Probably around 5k imo

No history and cat D , two massive issues for a buyer of the car

4K was based on the fact that our tax for an R32 in Ireland is €1809 I think

Nobody wanted them in the recession or for years after so prices dropped.

Now the car market is back and people pay through the nose for some of these "classics".

I can see how road tax that high would put people off buying them!

I would say 4-5k. That's just an opinion though.

Does look nice though. Ask if there are any pictures of the previous damage

That many owners isn't uncommon with the R32s.   It's nothing shady. People underestimated it's fuel costs, and over estimated it's performance and handling.  It wasn't the car people hoped it would be.   Very heavy, strange torque curve, very thirsty and not very quick.   That's why they changed hands frequently.

The smart R32 purchase currently would be a cherished 3dr MK4 with <3 owners and < 50K miles.

This has had 9 owners. Amount of owners doesn’t really concern me when it comes to performance cars as like someone posted earlier a lot of people get them then under estimate the running costs or some just fancy a pose for the summer

Looks nice that, is it hpi clear? Will be cheaper tax bracket too because of its age, How many miles has it done? Think the guy selling the one I posted about is gonna let me have it for £3500 but nothing set in stone yet.
