Bonnet catch upper

Hi,
Ive a problem opening my bonnet, the cabin release works ok, and the hood pops open partially,  but the plastic release under the bonnet is not opening the bonnet, i can open it by poking it with my finger but the plastic handle is not opening it.  Everything look pretty ok when it open, Is there any adjustment on these ???
Ive NCT/MOT this week and afradi ti will fail if the tester cant be arsed poking around to open bonnet

Time to replace the mechanism. They just seem to gunk up, and no amount of cleaning and lube brings them back to working the way a new one does. They can be had fairly cheap as an eBay special, had one on mine for 3 years now and still working fine.
