Body control module, battery drain
« on: November 27, 2017, 09:07:08 pm »
hoping someone has some knowledge on this matter but i have recently had a battery drain which the garage has identified as being the BCM, they were unsure if this is the problem or something faulty causing the BCM to be draining the battery, i have looked but cant find what items are run by the BCM as my knowledge of electronics is very limited. for all i know this thing runs the whole car.

could someone give some helps on this or point me in the direction of usual suspects??

thanks

Have you changed your stereo?

You have got a mk5? Not sure it’s  call a BCM if it is a mk5

It is called CECM, not BCM. BCM has MK6 etc. But I would say its a new stereo or another new installed gadget like handsfree, alarm etc.

my stereo has been in for at least 7 months before this problem started, so cant imagine its that? it begun around the time that my rear wiper stopped working by just running constantly until it just stopped for good, dont know if this is connected??

What else doesn't work in the tailgate area eg boot light or lock etc cause if there's a wiring issue in the bango sections of the boot lid you could have a system which can't sleep and thus a battery drain.
