Looks a good one from the advert. In terms of what to look for it’s the same as any car you buy. Full service history is essential and receipts for big work would be a bonus. Bodywork wise they tend to rust around the front arches and VW badge on the bootlid. And the main things is to always trust your gut instinct. If it feels wrong then walk away

Having just bought an unloved car and needed to get all the common problems done, I would check for
Cam belt, water pump, dv valve, dvc valve, cam follower, sump -oil pick up pipe, timing chain and adjuster.
Check car gets up to temp, check air con.
I would want them for that money, or budget for them afterwards for peace of mind.

awesome thats guys, off to veiw it tonight, got a budget of about £5k, ideally 3 door and sub 80k miles.
this one has apparently had cambelt and waterpump, cam follower and timing kit all done in 2016 as well as a DSG service.

If its not too far away, dont buy straight away. Check all the paperwork, thats just as important, as many times its the stuff you cant see is the most important. Do research on common faults. Good luck. Don't panic buy! Buy with your head, it will stop your wallet hurting in future lol
