I had the car looked at quickly by a specialist today and he said it’s not comin from the chain tensioner area but more the back of the engine , you can hear it a lot clearer inside the car
On the outside the engine sounds normal

It would be helpful to include some useful information.   DSG? Manual? Edition 30? GTI? At idle? whilst cruising? under acceleration?

Sorry my bad
Gti bwa 2007 manual
Noise only happens or becomes prominent when the car is upto temp
Only can be heard on idle and disappears when revved last 2k rpm
On letting off the throttle you can hear the noise change pitch to a louder sound
Noise is coming from the other side to the cam chain tensioner side ( or seems it)
Inside the car the noise can be heard louder
It’s going back to the specialist Monday for a cambelt change
