Does anybody know if GTi steering wheel will fit straight into a 2006 Passat?

Should fit with no issues. But if you want MFSW to work you'll have to check the control module installed in your car and maybe replace it with highline version:

That is only needed if your Passat doesn't have MFSW now.

Yes
we have MFSW.
I would have to try one to see how much it blocked the view of the clocks but at least it is doable. (Is that a word) Do able.
