New ED30 Owner
« on: January 04, 2018, 10:31:40 pm »
So i bought my first ED30 yesterday, im located in Birmingham UK

My car is running a Stage 2+ 370BHP 390FT, i bought the car as a none runner on the basic that the engine has gone, ive had it checked out and there is no compression in 1 cylinder the rest are fine the car starts up but misfires, no nasty knocking noises tbh it idles but smokes a lot (white smoke i believe)

My 1st question is what could the problem be, i know it could be a number of things but to nail it down would it be a engine rebuilt?

2nd question is, are there any reputable mechanics or specialists around the Birmingham area as i am finding it hard to give it to someone i can trust

3rd question if the engine has gone is it worth sourcing another low millage BYD or CDL engine?

Thanks in advance

Not sure on the problem but I’d be taking it to Midland VW in Norton Canes if I was you. Great service and know what they are doing.

If you are lucky, a burned out spark plug.

If you are unlucky, a busted piston or burned out exhaust valve(s).   Will have to be pulled apart to confirm.

The latter is not uncommon with that level of tune.   That amount of power and torque is easily 2 bar of boost being shoved into the engine.  All it takes is a weak injector and it's game over for that cylinder.
