16mm triple square bit
« on: January 07, 2018, 08:41:14 pm »
Trying to get hold of a 16mm triple square bit to separate my strut from the hub, 8s this tool known by another name like Txx or something? Can't find a 16mm in Halfords but they do some with high numbers like T55, is this an equivalent?

Also, has anyone used a regular tool for spreading the hub clasp?

There's XZN and Spline but think they're slightly different

I think may only need a 14mm triple square, that the biggest I've got and I've replaced my front struts.

Probably a mistake as at the top of the pelican parts guide where it lists the tools needed it states 14mm triple square. As for a spreader I used a chisel I got from machine mart but I took the hub and strut assembly off the car together and then split them.

I just bought a 1/2" rail of triple squares from Halfords.  Covers all of the sizes you will need on the car apart from the rear bearings.  Need a bigger separate one for that.

I can't find the splines on their site.  You get 7 of them on a rail.  I bought mine when it was "Halfords Professional".   They might of dropped them when switching to "Halfords Advanced".   Shame as it's a bloody good set.

Machine Mart have them though, if there's one near you.  Or Laser Tools online......although I find them to be a bit 'Chinese' quality compared to Halfords.
