Removal of airbag warning light??

Hi my mk5 gti airbag warning light is currently on, is it possible to get it turned off via Vagcom or the likes? And how much would an auto electrician usually charge for such a job?

Look in the VCDS owners register, find someone near you, give them a few pound for the hassle.

Dealer will charge around £50

Dealer is 1 hour minimum charge for that now, so £100+.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the yellow plugs under the seats if you can't get a scan locally.  The passenger warning light itself can be a pain if you've messing around installing new radios etc recently.

You can't just simply turn off the light.  If there is a fault, the light will keep coming back on.

Just a reset of fault codes turns it off.

OP never said it was a continuous error, I assumed he just unplugged it accidentally

If you mean bypassing the Airbag light, that is an MOT fail.   Just like the ABS, the testers want to see the light come on, then go off.   No light at all will be an instant fail.

If no lamp is present or it doesn’t illuminate then it can’t indicate a system fault, so it can’t be failed. Blimey, that is very surprising.  I would have thought safety systems would be under more scrutiny than that.
