Need a bolt part number
« on: February 01, 2018, 01:50:27 pm »
Anyone know the part number of this bolt? Or where can I source one if VW doesn't sells them?

It was removed from my DSG but was too stuck to be removed without suffering any damage. I've searched ETKA and online but I haven't found any just like it.

It's a M8x60 mm, triple square.

Edit: Corrected the size of the bolt.

What part of the DSG was it removed from exactly? I'd be surprised if one cannot be found & bought from VW

Found the ones VW list that are either 50mm, 55mm, 65mm or 70mm. No 60mm. How odd

55mm is N91030402 https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/shouldered-hex-triple-square-bolt-m12x55-priced-each/n91030402/

65mm is N91060202 https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/hex-head-12pt-bolt-m12x65-priced-each/n91060202/

It's referred to as a 'multi-point socket head bolt with collar' or a Shouldered Hex / Triple Square Bolt

I don't know if the name is the same in English. We call it cloche, it's the case that is over the flywheel and is connected with the DSG itselft. There are 18 of these bolts. The listed bolts are all shouldered hex bolts with triple square. I could find one with those dimensions on manual gearboxes: N10690801.

The closer looking bolt that I've found using the ECS Tuning site was the N91042802.

Ah, I've just looked at the picture again and realised there's no hex head on it, didn't notice that on first glance on my phone.
No idea what a cloche is unfortunately, but that last part number looks bang on?
N91042802 is a M12 * 1.25 * 60

I've just looked online better, cloche is the clutch housing. Simple.

The bolt that I found very similar doesn't have threads up to the head. That's the difference. Not sure if the threads are needed for my application. My bolt just screws in the tip.

What your looking is called a Setscrew , a Bolt has an unthreaded portion beneath the head 👍 although VW could still refer to it as a bolt  :surprised:

I've just returned from VW and my bolt is a M8x60 with a inner multipoint head. M12 is the size of the tool to screw it. :ashamed:

I still haven't found the corresponding part number.  :sad1:

I'm going to get a hex collared bolt with the same dimensions, used on manual transmissions: WHT005480.

Thanks for your help @Dan_FR .

I saw that too but the lack of a collar made me think it's not adequate for the job.

The problem is that ETKA doesn't have a list of the bolts for the DSG clutch housing. There are 18 bolts M8x60 connecting the clutch housing with the DSG itself, and another 3 smaller bolts. You can't find them there. They looked at the bolt and told me the bolt was a M8. I had a M12x55 and a M12x65 to compare with mine. They were much thicker.

The one I ordered is used for the same purpose on manual gearboxes. It's just an hex head bolt instead of a multipoint inner head bolt.

To be honest, unless contact/clearance is an issue I'd prefer a high tensile hex head with a washer behind it anyway

Only reason I can think of for it not being available as it's not a serviceable part and the entire thing is supplied new?

Yeah, DSG aren't serviceable. You can only get a few parts for it: mechatronics, oil pump, clutch pack, speed and temperature sender, oil cooler, etc. Check page 321-059. :sad1:

I'll let my mechanic the option to use that bolt for manual clutch housings or reuse the old bolt.
