1st VW - Black Edition 30
« on: February 04, 2018, 05:40:37 pm »
Hi All,

Picked it up two weeks ago, today was the 1st day it wasn't raining & had time for a quick clean:

Body seems in good nick, does need a really good polish.

Extremely happy with it, came from a BMW E60 535d which was mapped to 340bhp & 520ft lb so was concerned this would feel slow but really doesn't. Not sure if it's been mapped already as it does pull really well. Car is standard apart from head unit.

DSG is so good, I had the gearbox mapped in the last car but this still loads better.

Got things planned, I guess standard items, intake, exhaust, suspension etc..

Brakes aren't that great at all but see you can easily upgrade to S3 / R32 larger discs & pads so will be sorting that out.

Already installed my Vibe slimline sub & changed headlight bulbs to Osram Laser as it doesn't have Xenon's which is the only thing that put me off but wasn't going to wait for ever as service history is bang on & the money was right.

Thanks Dan

Nice example!

You can tell if it's mapped or not if you can find someone local with VCDS.    My stage 2+ ED30 keeps up with 335 diesels and petrols easily enough.  Not sure if they were mapped or not though!

Mate has VCD's I'll ask him to to have a look.

Just purchased a Ram Air oversized intake kit.

Only £154 on Amazon. Done a load of reading on this, way more expensive ones available but cannot find anything bad to say against.

Slight loss of torque lower down but slightly better higher up the rev range apparently.

After a little more noise & for the money worth a punt & will go with an exhaust when I get to that then remap.

When fitting I'll take a look at the PCV to see if it's the latest revision if not I'll be ordering the latest version along with a new GFB DV +.

Millers NANODRIVE CFS 5w-40 NT+ Full Synthetic Engine Oil to be ordered soon with oil filter.

Welcome along buddy.
For the money I'm sure you'll discover what a capable car the Ed30 is.
Sound choice on the RamAir. I had the Evoms and it was too darth Vader for me. The RamAir has a bit of that induction noise but more subtle and the price is very reasonable compared to other kits (suppose there might be some performance gain difference).
What's next on your list? 😆 It never stops...

Cheers Chigmuss.

The list is long & is getting longer the more involved I get within the VAG scene!

I've just received oil & oil filter so will be doing that soon.

I guess next on the list is rear spacers, going for 12mm & hopefully LED interior, number plate & puddle lights.

I'll check PCV when I do intake, upgrade DV. Then save up for other bits;

Suspension & bushes refresh as the mileage is 98k.

Exhaust, want a BCS power valve but big money.

Upgrade brakes

Depo projector headlights, only thing not having Xenon was only doubt about the car when looking to buy. Get H7 LED but being careful not to be too bright as I don't want the HID xenon thing. Think the MOT law is changing for these as well.

Remap!

Etc....

Oh & absolutely loving the ED30! Was apprehensive about the swap from the BMW but absolutely no regrets!

Noticed exhaust is blowing around the back box plus the rest of the exhaust isn't looking too healthy.

Bought this full BCS exhaust system second hand, it's been collected just waiting on delivery. Then need to get it fitted

Also installed 15mm spacers on the rear, looks so much better.

Excuse crappy pics.
