Not a Golf but a Passat with BWA engine.
Carista gadget shows P2181 code, I know it is a code that covers a lot of things.
The main 'stat was changed a bit back (I wish they had said there were two and done both of them). I checked the operation of the temp' gauge with the Torque app and it said the actual temperature was below what the gauge was saying.
