Tyres for summer

I know tyres have been discussed loads and i've had a search... I just want to know whether it would be worth getting 2 really good tyres for the front over summer? I have a pair of almost new 235/40/18 vredesteins that I can put on the rear. I don't  do track days but want to get the power down, could I run some r888s on the front only?

i prefer to have all four corners matched

on a FWD i favour TOYO T1R's
on a Haldex car i favour Mich Pilot Sports IIs

Yeah I was thinking it's gonna cause oversteer, but I don't drive like a loon everywhere just thinking about getting the power down a bit better... hmmm

Haha thought that might be the case 

But, surely if i'm aware of the effects I will get the traction benefits off the line etc.. And I would rather have some oversteer than understeer, would it not be similar to fitting a stiffer rear arb that seems quite common

Having never driven anything with such a big difference in grip, I can't say how snappy it'll be, but I can guess stupidly.

Flog the Vreds and get a set of something inbetween, like some hard compound Kumho V70a or those Toyo R1Rs?

But I'd ring EARS in Macclesfield first - The website is poo, but they always have some offers on whatever is lying around the shop, depends how lucky you are on the day, I've seen some very cheap deals.
