calling all deisel drivers re: sports cat / remapping
« on: February 09, 2010, 12:18:15 pm »
sorry to spam gents, one more quick questions to the derv drivers.....

ive already spoken to milltek about having a decat straight through system fitted to the car and although they cannot garantee that i will pass a 'smoke test' they have informed me that on all tests they preformed, the cars all past the emitions tests.
this is all well and good but my car will obviously start smoking like churchill as soon as i have it remapped....
whats the general concensus with decat deisels/remap... am i likley to get in trouble with the fuzz if they find out i dont have a cat? Im only asking as i cant justify spending over £600 on a sports cat.

any help will be appreciated

i did have a downpipe and TB exhaust on my mk4 golf tdi.
It was pretty smokey, but not problematic, and it passed an MOT.

On the other hand, a mk5 i have had experience with with a straight back system produced a lot of smoke

well yes, it dropped, but that will be more to do with the mapping.

you dont gain much at all doing things like this to a TDi mate
