Powervalve Exhaust Issues - Drone/Res
« on: February 26, 2018, 10:38:48 am »
Hey all.

Not posted here for a while.

I have a cat back powervalve exhaust that has been great for the past 2 years but after a long drive to go pick up some decks a few weeks back i have been getting a horrible droning/resonance which i'm sure is coming from the exhaust.

Has anyone had this before?

It's driving me mad and get's worse around certain rev ranges.  It's so bad i can hardly hear my music in the cabin.

I have a mk5 56 plate stage 1 GTI.

Any advise greatly appreciated.

TIA.

I've emailed them but they have not replied.

I'm hoping they will see this...;)

I'd say you'd get a quicker response calling.

Spoke to them yesterday and they suspect a downpipe issue.

Gonna get it on the ramps and check friday hopefully.  Fingers crossed it's not the downpipe as a new one with a cat is over £500.  I have standard downpipe on there atm.

Thanks Nige.

I'm still not 100% sure it's the exhaust as i am starting to get a strange feeling through the steering wheel and am sort of suspecting a sticky caliper or the likes, going on ramp today if the snow doesn't get in my way...:)

This turned out to be a failing wheel bearing so nothing to do with the exhaust...:)
