Helix clutch failed (I think)
« on: March 30, 2018, 01:12:28 pm »
Fitted a helix clutch kit from AKS (inc flywheel) about a year ago and it’s done around 10k.  I think it failed today, clutch pedal suddenly became lighter (still a bit of resistance)  and now it won’t disengage :/

Help!

Just changed the master cylinder in case but no change.  Looking like it’s box out again :/

Slave cylinder mate. Had exactly the same myself a few weeks ago with the same kit - Helix Organic clutch, LUK DMF, new slave, all fitted a couple of years ago and probably done 10-15k since.

Apparently the slave cylinder isn't of the best construction and doesn't like heat. With the Helix being a heavier clutch than OEM maybe that contributes to its demise.

But yeah it's box out for you I'm afraid.

Always, always, always fit a genuine slave people.  DO NOT fit a pattern one.

I did my Helix about 2.5 years ago and it's all still fine.  I think the DMF is f'cked now, but that's just standard.  Utter pieces of crap.  I might just weld the effing thing together as a solid lump.
