Mk5 GTi Sold - A Massive Thank You
« on: March 30, 2018, 10:27:08 am »
Hi All,

Just a quick thread to thank absolutely everyone on this forum.  I bought my GTi nearly 4 years ago and had no clue really about the do's, don'ts and common faults on the car, even though I have owned Mk3 and 4 Golfs.  After having a quick look online I stumbled across this forum, and never looked back.

Now after nearly 4 years of ownership I have sold the car.  I'm not going to lie, im actually pretty gutted about it to be honest.  There were 2 reasons for selling the car really, the first was that I thought over the next few years the car was going to start costing me a bit as I would need to change the wings after an unsuccessful warranty claim, refurb the wheels and change the timing belt and water pump.  Then there was the possibility of timing chains etc as I like to keep the car at its best.  The second reason was that a great lease deal came up for a Mercedes A Class, a car I've always liked the look of.

Anyway, I went for the Mercedes, got an A Class with night pack and its great.  Got a really good lease deal, one I couldn't really turn down for a brand new £25k+ car.  I will really miss the Golf, but intend to stay in touch with this forum.  This forum is by far the best I have joined with the greatest knowledge base.  I cant say the same for the A Class forum im a member of now, not as many members and not as many threads, buts its the best available.

Can definitely see me back in a GTi in the future, such a great car.  Thank you all again, and good luck for the future.   :happy2:

Colin

Stick some pics up of the new motor when you get it, got a soft spot for the A Class.
