Plasti dip to match radio surround
« on: March 30, 2018, 09:16:02 pm »
I've been making a scirocco/mk5 hybrid radio surround for the passat cc clima control, and have only really finished it to the point where I will be happy to properly coat it, now I'm wondering what the best match would be for in interior colour?

I'm thinking plasti dip grey and then plasti dip smoke over it to get to the right colour but can't find where to buy it under £20 a can  :stupid:

or just black plasti dip

I thinking plasti dip because of the rubber texture will match but I'm open to other ideas.

Yeah I saw fulldip been leaning towards it since i can’t justify £40 on plastidip lol, how was your experience with full dip?

I just bought some black satin matt spray on a can and sprayed my tweeter frames are I did build in the lights for the Side Assist and it actually cam really close if not near perfect match.. I would defo try spray it before you plasti dip it - maybe you'll get lucky on the match :)

Or els just take of the air vent piece and spray this with the same can you use for your new frame? :) It's real easy to take down in pieces so you don't have to paint the air vents and on all the other stuff - hardest part with this option is to search down some new stickers that shows which way the duct is open or not

I've tried some satin black spray paint, strangely came up gloss so someone labelled it wrong. I was considering spraying the top air vent unit then thought it will end up gloss black and costing an arm and a leg  , stickers won't be too hard to get I know a few sign makers. Also is the mk6 dash not a darker gray compared to the mk5?
