Under oil cap caked up ....
« on: April 04, 2018, 09:57:30 pm »
Topped up oil today and noticed under filler cap was caked with creamy sludge ... noticed recently too temperature isn't getting up to where it should be ... would this have anything to do with it? Planning to get booked in soon for thermostat change.

Thanks.

Common problem nothing to worry about as long as there's none on the dipstick, mines the same.

Yeah they should. Around December time in the very cold weather mine was dropping to about 70 when driving downhill then back up to 90. Then after a while it just stayed at 90 all the time. However if you use your climate control to access the hidden menu and check the engine temp that way, even when the car is reading 90 the digital display will say it’s actual temp is around 75-80. Changing the main thermostat fixed this on mine.
