There’s a test program in their diagnostics machine which runs the ABS pump whilst they flush it. It agitates the pistons to shift all the gunk. Or you can find a quiet road and activate the ABS several times before taking it in
They won't cycle the ABS unless you tell them to. On my last brake service I told them to do that and also the clutch. Black nasty sh*t came out of both apparently.
My local VW dealer was supposed to change plugs / pollen filter / fuel filter as part of fixed service price but didn’t.
