Brake Fluid Service at VW

Motors going in for a DSG service soon, figured I’d get the brake fluid changed too

Question, as I have the PP brake setup on mine, will they still do it? Anyone have theirs done with upgraded brakes without any issues at VW?

I had the R32 caliper all round on my Edition 30 and was always serviced at main dealer without any issues. Don’t know if they ever cycled the ABS pump but what ever calipers are fitted it’s just undo the bleed nipples and flush the old fluid through.

They won't cycle the ABS unless you tell them to.   On my last brake service I told them to do that and also the clutch.   Black nasty sh*t came out of both apparently.

There’s a test program in their diagnostics machine which runs the ABS pump whilst they flush it. It agitates the pistons to shift all the gunk.

Or you can find a quiet road and activate the ABS several times before taking it in

Thanks Pudding, pardon my ignorance but is the brake fluid change the same as/include bleeding the brakes?

Only asking as I’m hoping to upgrade soon to MK7 calipers

After reading a thread on this before saying exactly that I asked Volkswagen and they said as standard they have to cycle the ABS.

He could have just been spoofing to give me peace of mind.

Anyway, they did it for me "apparently". I had no evidence

I’ll update the thread accordingly after Thursday when it’s all done (whether or not they service the brake fluid because of the non stock brakes)

Ps. Prices gone up for “fixed price servicing”
Dsg now £199 from £184 and brake fluid £69 from £64

I’ve owned my car since new and only does @3k miles pa, so it was pretty obvious nothing had previously been changed when it came out of warranty and started being serviced by a trusted independent.

£69 ?? Local dealer is quoting £39 🤔

Bit of an update:
They’ll need the car for one more day, they couldn’t get it up on the ramp...guessing because the cars lowered but they said apparently the sideskirts (OEM) are too big

Worst part is they’ve actually taken the skirts off to get it on there
