Factory Hands Free Mobile Phone Cradle / iphone
« on: February 09, 2010, 07:46:48 pm »
Hi all,

I have just become the new owner of a 2005 GTI, i will post up some pics once detailed within an inch of its life.

I just need a little advice, the car is fitted with the factory mobile phone kit, which had currently got a cradle for a nokia, does anyone know if you can replace this cradle for one that would work with an iphone and if so where i could get one.

Cheers

stu

cheers for the reply, that looks good, does that just clip in, without having to take anything off?

Can you buy them anywhere else bar vw?

what cradle have you got mate? which nokia one is it, look on the back and it will tell you and i will see if its the same as mine! yes just take the old cradle out for the nokia and clip the new bluetooth display in and pair the phone with the unit.have a look at this link for functionality / compatible phones with this device.follow this link below:

http://www.bury.com/cws/uk/front_content.php?idcat=83&lang=20

select the download tab and download the pdf compatibilty sheet for the unit i have shown you on the vw site
its almost the same as the AD 9060 but made slightly different by BURY for VW OEM Hands Free application, so the AD9060 wont fit your cradle so you have to buy the VW one.

Hope this helps?

Hi

Thanks for the reply, my cradle is for a nokia 6100, 6200, 6220, 6230i, 6610i, 7210, 7250i and looks like attached photo, also did your adapter look like this when you removed the  nokia cradle

is it a case of pluging the bluetooth into the cradle or the adapter

sorry for all the question as i was at vw yesterday and they didnt have a clue.

Cheers for the reply, is the bit that the cradle attaches to the same(the bit with the red sticker), if so it sounds like i need another cradle like yours then the bury sould slot into that, so the part number would be good when you get chance.

By the way the bury kit looks good.

cheers

I have exactly the same problem - 05 plate with factory phone prep/MFD2 Sat Nav/MFSW as above.  Worked great with my old handset using the appropriate cradle but now my work have upgraded my phone to a Nokia 2700 and VW can't supply a cradle for it.  I need a bluetooth device of some kind to plug the gap.  I think the problem may lie in the factory phone prep changing after my model year.

Any help gratefully received as my dealer seems to know nothing about this...

Hi

i think you hit the nail on the head as the phone prep changed in 2006, the vw touchscreen bluetooth adapter stated that it will fit into the phone prep 2006 onwards.  This could turn out to be a pain in the rear or end up with us having a phone cardle that we cant use.

Hi Stu,

I fear you may well be right!  It will be a real shame if we can't use it as the system is fantastic when in use.  Hopefully someone will come up with a sugestion to get us round this problem - maybe its possible to change the base unit that the cradle fits onto?

When i asked the dealer about this i just got a blank look, so no help there.  The base unit seems like a posibility if the wiring matches up.

Lets wait and see.

ive just purchased a GTI with the nokia cradle installed. Even though i would prefer a proper cradle and charger for my iphone 3gs in its place, i think that bluetooth device looks quite cool.

Just a heads up theres a chap on ebay selling on for the same price + free delivery.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Bluetooth-Touch-Adapter-MK5-Golf-Passat-Phone-Cradle_W0QQitemZ400104070002QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Mobile_Home_Phones_Bluetooth_Acc_ET?hash=item5d280f9b72

Im thinking over this or changing the headunit to a bluetooth enable unit.

hi

im not too sure this is a direct fit for mine as mine is pre 2006 and these will be only a direct fit on factory phone kits installed after 2006.

Its starting to be a pain now

Only other thing i can suggest it considering the option i am going to do. Mine is pre 2006 an all.

I will be removing the factory nokia cradle and putting an iphone one in its place. You can get some cheap iphone holders from fleepbay. Then getting a RNS510, as this is what everyone on the forums keep going on about.
