TTRS - only have to breathe on it to get to 400 bhp, and it will appreciate in value (only 800)

Really ? Only 800 ttrs built /in the uk ? Seem very good value as well .... probably will appreciate in about 20 years time .
Got to agree with Nige here. You've got the raw driver's car in the s2k. You're right not to want to supercharge it. Keep it clean as it is and take it out in the right weather.

Thing about the TTRS that appeals (to me at least) is easy power and acceleration. Brute force. Like Nige says with a map and basic bolt ons they make 400+ all day and get it all to the road. I'd happily live with both those cars.

You could do a lot worse than that. I know after meeting Nige he's quite particular about keeping things fresh and clean. Lovely colour too.

I had a new 911 from 2002 to 2005. What do you go to for a change? My (then)teenage boys persuaded me to go for the Mitsubishi Evo 8 MR8, ha ha. 9 months / 9k miles later and two services, the Japanese plastickie interior was not doing it for me , although the car was very capable, so I bought an E46 M3 SMG - back in the German build fold, and I thought it was extremely good, so I can see the appeal. The E46 just looks a bit dated now; whereas the 911 is still roughly the same ageless motoring sculpture. As already said - 911 all the way....... :notworthy:

If you feel the need for speed, then look no further -

Suspect the TTRS could be quicker still being lighter and more aero.

Trust me guys I’d love ( absolutely love) a 997.2 S or a 981 cayman S ... both are 45k for a spec I’d be happy with .

It’s too much money  for me  :ashamed:

The only way for me to be able to afford it would be sell the s2000 and that way I’d have 45k budget ..... I’m not one for loans/finance ect . If I can’t afford it I won’t buy it .

Just can’t bring myself to sell the S2k !

Hence the 30k budget .

Golf is now in the garage and I’m enjoying the Honda while the sun shines . In no rush at all but I’ll test drive some cars I’m interested in while thinking it over  :happy2:

Hmmmm, yeah, my friend had an Evo 9 FQ360 for about a year and that put me off the Jap scene to be honest, apart from the Honda S2000.  As you say, ghastly interiors but the worst thing for me was the horrendous ride quality, ridiculous exhaust drone, comical turbo lag and even funnier fuel consumption.  I really, really do not get those cars at all.  I much prefer the way the Impreza drives.

I had an E46 M3 for about 6 months many moons ago, and indeed a chum still has a very mint low mileage example.....but again, it's too one dimensional for me, like the Evo.  I don't like the tramlining, I don't like the <4000k rpm lack of torque, I don't like the solid tappet noise (or the inspection 2 service price that goes with it!), the ride quality isn't brilliant and they destroy rear subframe carrier panels for fun.  The E39 M5 is more my style   An M3 for old, picky gits who like low down torque but still want some 'M'ness.

The reason I like 911s so much is because of a drive of a 993 3.6 Varioram, in the uncommon wide body flavour.  It's the only car in the last 2 decades to leave a lasting impression on me  :happy2:

Don’t know which way I’m going to be honest with the next car .... everything that really excites me is 40k plus ! I’ll just sell the Pirelli ( and no doubt regret it  :stupid:) and then go from there . Using the s2000 at the moment , loving it when the suns out  :driver:
