Engine cutting out, no fault codes please help!

I drive a 2006 golf gti, I was accelerating out of a corner tonight and the engine cut out.
Attempted to restart but it just idles for a few seconds and then just cuts out. Can just about rev the engine but eventually cuts out.
I have a Vag com but there are zero fault codes. No signs of anything obvious and when the engine is running it doesn’t misfire.
Any help greatly appreciated I don’t really know where to start apart from starting to replace fuel filters etc.

Does it stumble at idle after a drive when hot? I.e. the revs drop to 500ish momentarily and then pick up back to 800ish again.  Or did it do that before getting as bad as it is now? If yes, that is classic MAF sensor. 

Buy new one. Disconnect battery. Fit new maf. Reconnect battery and see if it’s better.

First of all try and get the car scanned, with VCDS.
This may highlight the problem.  and really no car should be looked at without a scann.

Then try disconnecting the MAF sensor and see if the problem continues.

Test you PCV , it may be faulty or leaking, even the pipe work may cause an issue like this.

DV would be the next thing to check or replace with the latest rev G#.

Clutch Switch. if all else fails.

But then you could also have clogged or faulty injector(s).
