Long story short, I will be driving to Sheffied in the near future to have the following done to the Cupra in the hope thats it for modifications, and to try and rid my car of the jingling noise and flat spot at 5200rpm;

Fit new gearbox with Wavetrac Diff
Fit New Clutch
Fit Uprated Engine Mounts
Fit WALK
Fit F+R sway bars
Fit modified fuel return

I have the gearbox with diff, but I will need procure the clutch, possible single mass flywheel (if there is one that does not chatter like mad).

Regarding Anti Roll Bars, I have to be honest and say I am still not convinced by these or how they should be set up based on some saying to leave it, some saying rear only, some saying front and rear etc. I may leave these out.

Finally, I have read several threads regarding engine mounts, and am aware of the variations available including BSH, VWR, THS, VF etc. I dont want the inside of the car vibrating like a pnuematic drill, and am therefore trying to remember which ones I need to do and which one need not be done to avoid the vibrations.

Thanks in advance

Horace

dont leave out the ARBs they are the best handling mod IMO.  My setup is the result of 3 consequtive weekends at the ring trying differnt setups. not tried just the raer on its own though.

what is this modified fuel return??

you just need the lower engine mount if you dont want vibrations.  i tried TFSI_mikes cupra which has the VWR street one in and it doesnt vibrate any more than mine with the powerflex insert. ive also driven the VWR GTI and that had the full set which vibrated the whole cabin.  sounded mint, but not sure if i could deal with it on a long journey

the fat plaster has a single mass flywheel and he was worried about the noise at first but he said its not bad at all. Think hes running sachs. Wayne had trouble getting past his stage 1 jabba mapped car with his stage 2 plus one

No clutch slip at all, so my flywheel should be ok. Car will turn to 30000 miles this morning too, and a lot of those miles have been at way over 300bhp.

Have you had the cam lobe follower changed yet?

The fuel pump has to come off with other bits like the DV etc to get to the fuel return valve. £20 for the follower and zero extra hours labour makes it a good time to do if you need to. :happy2:

I have the modified return valve fitted to mine. I've just done some logs and the results are very promising :innocent:

I'm assuming you'll be going to Statllers then DJ?

I'm only 4 miles away, so if you want to take a spin in mine and see what the VF engine mounts, diff and ARB's do, then just drop me a PM and if I'm not working I'll pop down.

Yeah, I am on my 3rd cam lobe follower now, and yep, the work will be done at Statlers within a month.

When I arrive there, I guess it wont be long before I know that the mounts, diff and ARB's will feel like, but it would be good to meet up for sure.  :happy2:

Yeah, I caught up with Blade last time he was at Statllers too. Seems like their popularity is growing bit by bit.

Sorry a bit off topic here. I am looking a just the lower engine mount to reduce wheel hop and preserve my milltek. So its good to here that the noise of the VWR is the same as the powerflex, but does the VWR item do a better job at preventing wheel hop as its a lot more money to pay than the Powerflex??

....The VWR Lower Mount does a great job of delivering the power down - Better than just a 3-prong poly insert (which I had before).

when i last drove mikes cupra the road was absolutely soaked and traction was quite a bit of an isesue, but there was no wheel hop at all. My car would have been going nuts wheel hop wise
