Yeah i must admit to being a little concerned about the initial response tbh, guess i just assumed that a 5 month old £400 exhaust with a 'lifetime guarantee' would be replaced without question or suspicion...
I will however reserve final judgement until i have been down to Awesome at the weekend and had Millteks decision as to whether it is a warranty claim or not etc, so heres hoping for a good result  :scared:

The old saying of "it's not what you know, it's who you know" springs to mind.

....Yes, that's something I learnt many moons ago, probably at school, and which helped me throughout my business working life. It's even how I counted Harrods among my clients, Steve.

The thing is that this forum is a real community and we all help each other in many various ways whenever we can. If I can I help you guys and I also help the guys like Milltek who help me - We all help each other - It's called a Win-Win, no losers.

I know I'm not the only one here who derives a great pleasure from helping others.

:grouphug:

Here we go again :indifferent: :indifferent:

As normal you have missed my point Robin. It's good that people have ultimately received the right level of service from a company, but in the interests of balance the valid point remains it's a shame that certain companies can't treat all customers in the same way, and that it takes direct contact into someone very senior to what most people feel is an acceptable level of service.

Reusing the Harrods example, it doesn't matter who you are, every customer through the door is made to feel special and with the aim to make sure they are all treated in the same manner.

It's also great to hear of forum member's helping each other. :happy2:

The valid point being that people would not require any assistance by RR if Milltek products had not cracked..................

I believe the Forum is best served by unbiased reporting, and people making up their own minds.

My tip cracked and after contacting JKM Milltek sent 2 new ones to replace my existing ones.
Jim suggested that he have a go at repairing the existing ones (2 concentic pipes, welded, ground and polished) as replacing could be a bit hit and miss.

30 minutes of welding, grinding and polishing and they looked as good as new and have been fine since..  :happy2:

Once again these things happen, but it is how it is dealt with that matters more.

Its been going through my local VAG scene, especially at prept meetings that milltek do seem to be failing alot recently. Doesnt seem to stop people spending their hard earned on the stuff though. I cannot comment personally, just feedback from friends.

but didn't Phil the head honcho at Milltek tell gillm that "the design was changed in 2007 to avoid the cracking issue"

it seems the problem still exists in quite a big way!

so....what's the alternative to Milltek for our cars then?? Blueflame?

so what you're saying is they're all rather crap then!

i'll stick to the OEM set up  :signLOL:

customer service on fixing a problem is one thing. But if a company continues to dish out a product that fails due to bad design and are doing f all about fixing it properly (thru correct design)....well sorry but that's just poor in my book.
