Fault Code P3137 and P642
« on: June 17, 2018, 05:19:41 pm »
Hi I am brand new to Golf Gti and this forum.

I am delighted with my Mkv which I have had for six months. It's a 19997 manual with 27K. Last week the ECL came on (with no running issues at all) and I took it to a local recommended specialist with the proper diagnosis equipment. They came back having found the above fault codes and said they had "reset the ecu to default". They added the light may come back on and if so they could supply a kit that restricts throttle body movement for about £20 plus labour; a cheaper alternative to the fix of changing the inlet manifold which they suspected could (and I sress the word "could") have worn flaps.

500 miles later the ecl has not come back on. Can someone explain what the ecu default reset is and whether this may result in a long term fix (I did not ask the garage concerned as my girlfriend picked the car up and I thought i would ask on here before I rang the garage myself)

Thanks

1997 mkv? resetting the ECU is basically like restarting your phone/computer when its messing about.
if the lights still not come back on, then dont worry... if it does then look into this:
