Immobilizer and cluster
« on: July 25, 2018, 11:10:45 am »
So... The other day I got in the car and the steering alignment and ESP lights were on on the dash. I also noticed that all the trip data had reset. The car started fine though so I went for a drive and the lights went off. This happened a few times over night where I would start the car in the morning and everything was reset. Then one day for no reason the car wouldn't unlock with the either of the remote keys so I unlocked the car with the physical key put the key in the ignition and nothing. Then the alarm went off and I couldn't switch it off. Eventually after mashing the remote multiple times it stopped and the car started fine again. It seems like an immobilizer/cluster issue. No fault codes aside from the steering alignment though. I checked the battery with a multimeter and it was all good and above board. The car has just had an interval service at a VW specialist and the mechanic told me it was all good. It's a 06 gti mk5 with 65000 on the clock.

Any ideas before I take it to the stealers?
