thanks for all the advice, if i knew that bit fitted a few weeks ago when i first had the bits put on, then i might not have been so disappointed with the evoms cover on its own. and would have also clipped on last weekend when I was at me ma's.

anyhow shows the benefits of thes forums   :grouphug:

overall though really happy with how car is running now.

vf engine mounts - one of my favourite mod's, quite alot of vibrations and extra cabin noise first few hundres miles but now really settled in and hardly noticeable, once used to them, but everything seems improved - feel of car, accelerating, breaking, cornering and gear changes, i also dont get wheel hop anymore when the car judders when flooring it i just get wheel spin now

coilovers - really loosened up lately and grip is very good, and gives you alot more confidence in the corners. though quite a low ride and speed humps in london are sometimes an issue - may raise it a bit soon

blufin stage 2 map  is running very well, im not one to use the accelerating pedal conservatively or progressively , am 25 with 324bhp going through the front wheels of my gti.. whats a boy to do. but no engine light problems for me and is running better than ever with this cold weather especially when you get a nice dry road.

.
The Evoms engine cover was designed to use the silver centre section of the original oem cover,
which is why I asked if you were going to fit it, as it makes the cover look a hundred times better.

like this:

:innocent:

....You beat me to it, Matt!
Regal :fighting: really should have told you that, James - They're meant to be the UK representatives of EVOMS.

Apart from aesthetically tidying up the messy appearance of the 2.0T FSI engine, a cover will give a wee bit more protection from the elements - Just look how splashed etc an oem cover can get.

Personally, I like the EVOMS cover a lot and think it looks very purposeful.
It looks even better with a carbon centre strip

Great feedback and info on the engine mounts, James :happy2:
It's my next mod, but VWR's 'Fast Road' version (as opposed to their hardcore race version).

Cheers!

thanks for the pics robin, I was at me ma's last weekend and tried to fit the silver cover to the evoms, though was not so easy, oem silver cover has clips all the way up, 4 of them so you have to cut these off, now the question is what glue is best to use which won't fail with the engine heat?

Any help would be great

Thanks
J

^^^^

Those very strong sticky pads? My number plate is stuck on with them [Wolverhampton-proof, I hope!]

I got mine from Ant Graphics in Bedford via TTshop. But will they stick to metal?

Few updates to the car done recently and some more planned for later in the week.

First off finally got the new brakes fitted, had a small issue when fitting in that they needed a 8mm spacer to clear the 18" pescara wheel. the spacers they used were cheapo ones and left the ride feeling terrible so Wheelman kindly provided us with 10mm hubcentric ones, decided to get all 4 wheels done so it looked right and now ride is back to normal. Brakes now bedded in and feeling very positive and alot firmer than stock one's in all situations.

all 4 wheels now with 10mm spacers

Had the APR high pressure fuel pump fitted too the same day and this has already had a noticeable improvement on mid range pull without having a new remap, but off to Superchips this friday to be re-tuned to take the pump in to account and they can turn up the fuel pressure to 130 bar  - RESULTS of this to come..

also the new oem 'd' dv valve was put in, i know there has been some issues regarding whether this is the correct part for the tfsi, but so far fitted well and car has been running like normal can't tell if there has been any noticeable improvements as this seems to have come from the fuel pump.

Will update after Friday with the results of the re-tune with superchips.

thought I might update the build thread....

well I finally got it back last friday after been without it for 3 months or so, has been repaired from this:

to this

pleased with how its looking, although there are still a few errors popping up so will be going back unfortunately as I think the exhaust has gone as its making an unusual sound and the mil light is on, also got an error code for the power steering..

apart from that though it drove pretty well, dsg wasn't changed unfortunately but seems perfect.. boost is strong, handling is pretty sharp but im getting vibrations through the steering wheel when doing three figures so that needs looking at too

but good to have it back and driving again  :happy2:
