Passenger seat 'ratchet' sound when moving
« on: August 06, 2018, 11:14:47 am »
I've got a 3-door '57 plate with leather interior. When I move the passenger seat forward (slide it along the rails) it makes an awful ratcheting sound.

Does it just need greasing (if so can you recommend a good grease to use)? Or is there a mechanical problem do you think?

i had this on my other mk5 gti... you have to adjust the cable which is underneath/runs along side the seat (door side) not too hard just a little fiddly - as you fold the seat forward it pull the cable, it will be stretched and not pulling the cable properly.

i actually needed to replace a clip that holds the cable in place, had to adjust cable afterwards
