cruise control resume function a bit limp?
« on: December 31, 2008, 10:18:25 am »
I had cruise fitted by Awesome recently as I really missed not having it.
It works well (although the VW implementation and stalk is pretty cheapy imho)

But the biggest problem is that its quite 'relaxed' when hitting resume to re-applying throttle to get back from a reduced speed to the reset speed. I reckon it applies no more than 30% throttle.
My previous car, an M3 E46 was like a scalded cat on resume (probably a bit too much tbh) , the Ed30 is the opposite.

Anyone else find this? And more importantly can I adjust this % ramp via VAG COM?

yes Im bored and at work  :signLOL:

Is this a new job John, I remember you saying both you and your misses were getting made redundant, if its not a new job anything on the horizon?

I had cruise as a factory fit option. I agree with what (I think!) you are saying.

The cruise has never applied full throttle on resume for me although it seems plenty to get you back to speed. I would have thought that this would have been a safety feature as you don't want full throttle when resuming an 80mph cruise from a resume speed of 30mph = recipe for disaster.

I would have thought that VAG-COM would allow you a certain amount of flexibility of the throttle application function on resuming cruise, but it could be embedded as a safety function.
Golf R gone.

I don't know of anyway to increase the ramp rate.

Yeah I've always thought this...It takes so long to get back up to the previous speed! Its definitely not like BMW's or Chrysler's (I rented one in America a few years ago), which when you press resume they absolutely rocket up to the required speed!

We had factory fit cruise on our Ed 30 and also on our GT 170 (diesel).
The diesel seems to accelarate harder upon resume than the edition 30 unless it's in too higher gear BUT as the Ed has DSG it will kick down as many gears as necessary to give fairly rapid accelaration  on resume!  :surprised:

Good point..I've only seen cars with automatic gearboxes perform a rapid resume, I've never really tried it on a manual - except on mine!

Wonder if that makes a difference!

You cant decide yourself if your going mad or not, is there no way you can get the resume re-mapped stage 2 should suffice.  :P
